MY PERSONAL LIBRARY

MY PERSONAL LIBRARY

THE BLACK SHELF IS ONE OF THE FIRST BOOK SHELF I BOUGHT

I REALLY NEED A BIGGER ROOM

THE OWNER IS A CHELSEA FAN !!!!

THIS SHELF IS DEDICATED FOR FICTIONS

When my house completed in 2004, I've decided to dedicate room no 4 as a study room cum personal library. So far this is one of my favourite area in the house. I can spend hours in this room doing things that I really like which is READING.

The current number of books is 1500 (thanks to the warehouse books sales....) and for 2010 my aim is to add another 350 books. This will enable me to try reaching my ultimate target which is to have a total of 5000 books in 10 years time.

Looking forward to the warehouse book sales in 2010.

BEN 10 @ KL CONVENTION CENTER

Briefing from BEN 10 expert

At the entrance of Hall 3

The response is not really convincing
The stage setup (camera off once the show started ...)

Finally the BEN 10 live stage show is here in Kuala Lumpur. I've booked the ticket much earlier online to avoid last minute congestion since it's during weekend. Although I've probably seen BEN 10 on TV only once , the brief overall summary by my son before the show started really helps.
This is our first time to KL Convention Center and I'm really amaze of the overall setup which is much better than Putra World Trade Center especially for such an event like BEN 10 live performance. Thanks to Wan Zaleha Radzi and her company for bringing such an event to Malaysia.
The hall was half empty probably because the price of tickets which I feel was a bit high and also the promotion which was not that extensive. Anyway the whole family really enjoy the show and we look forward for another similar event in the future.

BIG BAD WOLF BOOK SALES

MY CATCH FOR THE EVENT (MOSTLY BIOGRAPHIES)

Lots of books and lots of people but not much space

By 11 am the place was jam pack

it's like going to concert, pushing and shoving at the entrance

Half an hour before the gates open (and I thought I'm early)

Out of all the warehouse sales related to books this year , this is the one. Everybody especially the bookaholics have been talking about this event since early of this year. Since I miss the last year event, I've decided to give this one a definite must go event.

This year it's held at Amcorp Mall (easy access, plenty of parking and near to LRT station) next to Book Xcess shop at level 3. I went on the first day, half an hour early but to my surprise almost 100 people are even earlier. The space was a bit small and no wonder when the gates open within 10 minutes it's jam pack.

No time to review, just grab whatever you can. And since I've decided to concentrate on biography of sports personality within an hour I've completed my shopping with 30 biographies mostly ep footballers. It's really cheap, a hard cover bio of John Terry at Kinokuniya = RM 110 but it's RM 8 at BBW sales.

Overall it's really cheap and most of the books range from 2006-2009 , organizer however could improve for the next year sales especially on the size of the hall (it's too small and I'm not the only one whose complaining).

CENDOL LEMAN DAWI

The banner which is full with interesting statistics

Enjoying the cendol

Additional ice is also FOC

Group photo with Pak Leman (in RED)

NO SALESPERSON ALLOWED

(Cendol [pronounced 'chen-doll'] is a traditional dessert originating from Indonesia. It is also popular in Singapore, Malaysia[1], and Southern Thailand (where it is called lortchorng singapore ลอดช่องสิงคโปร์). The dessert's basic ingredients consist of coconut milk, noodles with green food coloring (usually derived from the pandan leaf), and palm sugar. Red beans, glutinous rice, grass jelly, creamed corn, and shaved ice are optional additions. Cendol has become a quintessential part of cuisine in Southeast Asia and is often sold by vendors at roadsides, hawker centres and food courts.) This is the definition of cendol from wikipedia.

Cendol Leman Dawi is located not far from Seremban and can be considered as one of the famous cendol outlet especially due to the witty character of the owner Pak Leman (an ex army). Finally last Saturday after quiet and adventurous journey (whcih includes a U turn at Seremban Tol and massive traffic jam at Senawang Tol) at 3.30 pm I arrived at this famous place.

From far the voice of Pak Leman entertaining the customer with figures and facts about almost anything could be heard. Our group ordered almost everything in the menu and we've experience the PAY ONCE THE REST IS FREE concept which also is another speciality of this place.

Overall, the Cendol itself it average (Cendol Klang is much better) but the character of Pak Leman and the PAY ONCE THE REST IS FREE concept are the reason why this place is so unique and special.

FROM MY LIBRARY (SHE SAID YES)

A story by Misty Bernall the mother of Casey Bernall, one of the victim in Columbine high school shooting. It reveal how Misty was shot in the library (shot direct to the head) and how Misty heard it first in her office while having lunch.

It also reveals how Misty and her family deal with Casey problem while she friended a girl named Mona before the incident. Mona did influenced Casey to hate her parents. They manage to get police order so that Mona will stay away from Casey. Casey even wrote an essay saying she hate her family and god. Because of this they decided to transfer her to Columbine from Beaver High.

They also receive a letter from the parent of the Columbine Killer apologizing and do not understand of their son behaviour.

Chatting and eating

Lucky for me the 'parking' area is sufficient

Group photos before the event ends (actually it ended at 9 pm !!!!)

Open House is a wonderful event where one fine day in a year you will be inviting friends to your house normally for a special event. So after being "pushed" by some of my friends , me and my wife finally agree to held such occasions at our house at JALAN REBUNG, KELANG.

Since it's during the month of Aidilfitri and everybody is busy attending open house here and there, our OH (open house) has been scheduled to start at 4pm. I even created a special blog (http://www.bbopenhouse.blogspot.com/) for any updates especially on the map to my house and it's really helpful.

Almost 18 families was there and we had so much fun keeping updates of each other. The food was fantastic and because of the Pot Luck concept , the food supply was never a problem. I've to admit since we do not use any catering services , it's a bit tiring at the end especially cleaning up after everybody went home. I hope I can invite bigger crowd for my next Open House (which I've yet to decide ..hehehe)

MY RM10 THERAPHY SESSION ....

Once a month or even once every 2 weeks I'll go to this barber shop near my house for a complete hair styling, 'facial treatment' and massage session and the package will only cost me RM 10. Although most of the barber shop (totally not the same with hair stylist studio ...) is currently employing 'internationals, to do the operations, it's still the same old barber shop that provide the same services.

I admit most of us nowadays will be going to SPAs which provide better services especially in reducing the day to day stress (most of them from work place) but for me my kind of relaxing session is to go to my favourite barber shop or "kedai gunting" and straight away order the complete package. And yes sometimes I will go for the "NECK CRACKING" package.

Looking forward to my next visit .....

TREE TOP WALK @ SUNGAI SEDIM

The starting point ....

The highest area (26 meters from forest level)

Tips : walk slowly and enjoy the view

The bridge is made from steel so there's no need to feel unsecure ...

One of the view from upstairs

Ticket was a bit pricey......

Welcome to TREE TOp WALK

The entrance after 40 km drive from Kulim

You have to be here for a one time TREE TOP WALKING experience

During the hari raya break few weeks back we decided to visit one of the few attractions in Kulim , Kedah THE TREE TOP WALK which happens to be the longest in Asia. It's about 40 km from Kulim Town (to be exact @ Hutan Lipur Sungai Sedim).

The iron bridge on top of the tree extended to approximately 1.5km and the tallest area was 26 meters. The view from above was fantastic and not surprising that most of the visitors are natural lovers armed with high tech cameras. It will take about 45 mins to complete the walk (by walking slowly while enjoying the natural view). I think the state government really make an effort to established such attraction like this although it will be better if they can upgrade the access road.

The best thing about this place is it located in a locations surrounded with streams of beautiful river and once completed the tree top walk one can dip down to cool down while enjoying the 'picnic' food. I've been to a tree top walk in Vancouver (Stanley Park) before but this is much better.

MUNJONG

Preparation for the main dish (Nasi Tomato)

The delivery squad ....

Each delivery packed in plastic bag

Another view of the preparations...

The lychee pudding

The gravy of Nasi Tomato (if i'm not mistaken ...)

The friend chicken (tomato sauce will then be added)

MUNJONG or berkunjung is an act of visiting neighbours during the last day of Ramadhan while sharing with them special dishes. This is a very traditional Malay Javanese event and for this year my family has prepared "NASI TOMATO" and lychee pudding as the MUNJONG dishes.

It started with the preparations of the 2 dishes and once completed it will be packed into plastic bag and will then be distributed accordingly. For this year we've prepared 15 pack. I've decided to assigned my kids to be the delivery team and it's cute looking at them going from one house to another to deliver the MUNJONG package.

Probably for next year we'll do something exotic and fusion ..hmmmmm any recommendation
