FITNESS CENTER : IS IT FOR REAL ???

Last week I had a great "Teh Tarik" session with an old friend of mine and one of the topic is fitness center. It has been quiet a trend nowadays especially for the young and not so young executives to join such center. It's like a good and healthy routine right after an intense day at the office, where you get to release your tension while working out.

However we did argue on the ROI (return on investment) of the program since average monthly fees range between RM 150 to RM 250 depending on which fitness center do you join. One need to discipline him or herself trying to go to the gym probably at least 3 time a week (and it's not easy).

I remember another good friend of mine who had joined a fitness center for the past 6 month and having a problem to give the commitment to go there at least once a week (it's more like once a month...) due to working commitment.

Whatever it is, we're not denying what a wonderful urban trend FITNESS CENTER is but without good planning and proper time management it could waste a lot of money.

Hi Rizal,

I would imagine that even walking to your car in the sizzling Tropical sun would stress one's body and heart as much as a long workout in an airconditioned fitness center and would be far cheaper too :)

I don't know about the business end of your fitness centers but here one often has to be careful about the fine print in the membership contracts.

The fitness center in your second pic from the top looks for all the world like the one on a cruiseship where passengers would go to work out all the excess food and drink they consumed five times a day then go right back to the buffets :)

Most gave up on the fitness after a couple of days at sea but talked forever after the cruise about the great fitness center with all the state-of-the-art machines and the thick towels and helpful attendants and the fantastic view of the sea ahead over their lattes at Starbuck's and in their blogs.

Hi louis,

Appreciate your feedback on the topic. What you said is totally true and here young executives look at fitness center especially the membership as one of the urban trend. It's good if the membership is fully utilized but for the sake of just being a member so that they're up to date...not good.

Bila nak datang Pesta Buku? Kalu singgah Dewan Tun Razak 2, cari saya di booth CESB... ada banyak buku baru.
